Tekfix, an Australian computer hardware and electronics retailer, has an interesting discount [press release]:
To get the 5% off, Firefox users have to enter coupon code firefoxed in the appropriate field during checkout.
Nice initiative.
However, I wonder why they haven't chosen to let their shop do a browser check, instead of just telling people to enter [...]

CoLT
TinyUrl Creator

The reason was that the extensions didn't provide secure updates, probably to avoid fraud. I checked addons.mozilla.org and noticed, that the entire [...]

I've mentioned the Firefox extension 'ChromaTabs' earlier.
Well, now I've tested in, and even though I'm sure it's a really good feature for some, I just couldn't get used to it. It was too hard to see which tab was the active one, and in the end the various colors faded into a palette, where I [...]

Color your tabs

This seems like the perfect Firefox extension for a tab freak like me: CromaTabs.

As a Gmail user who uses Gmail a lot, I also use a Firefox extension entitled "Better Gmail".
But as Google has started upgrading all Gmail accounts to a new and improved Gmail a new version of the Better Gmail extension is needed.
The aptly named "Better Gmail 2" is available at the Lifehacker site.
The new Better [...]

After running alpha builds of the 1.1 I just got my invitation to the private beta of the upcoming 1.0 version of the social web browser Flock.
Duncan Riley at TechCrunch feels the same way about Flock 1.0 as I do: Flock 1.0 Beta Released: Surprisingly Very Good
I'm not going to go further into the functionality [...]

Via the Danish version of Computerworld I've found out that Mozilla is opening development offices in Copenhagen, Denmark. Exciting!
What's more exciting is, that they'll begin working on a mobile version of Firefox, when Firefox 3 is released.

This is probably old news already, but as the BBC reports, social networking site Facebook has bought Parakey a startup by two of the founders of the Firefox project, Blake Ross and Joe Hewitt.
Even though the Parakey.com site doesn't offer much enlightenment on exactly what kind of project this is, Wikipedia has an interesting article [...]

I nearly forgot: Flock 0.9 is out

Woops, I nearly forgot to mention, that Flock 0.9 is out — a browser that I have been fortunate enough to test prior to its release.
And I must say, this is a browser beyond browsers out there. Even though it's built on Mozilla's popular Firefox browser, it adds a whole new social dimension to browsing, [...]

Tip: Minimal Firefox

By moving address and search bar and hiding the navigation and bookmarks toolbars, you can actually get a pretty minimal browser out of Firefox with a lot of space to display the websites.
Of course it means, that you have to either use the menus or know the Firefox keyboard shortcuts ;-)
