Is Ubuntu (Linux) ready for the desktop?

It's quite a long article, but you can skip right to the conclusion. :-)
Found via Digg.
Update 1:
Ubuntu News also has a take on the comparison.

Found at Norway's digi.no.
Update 1:
I just grabbed and uploaded a screenshot of Nero Linux Beta taken on my Ubuntu 7.04.

This worked like a charm for me.
Type the following in your terminal and hit the enter key:
sudo aptitude install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts
I'm on Feisty right now, and JRE is working as it's supposed to.

Testing Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn)

Right now I'm testing the live CD version of open source operating system Ubuntu in the new 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) beta.
I haven't had the time to test it thoroughly enough — but so far it looks nice… new features and accessories, sweet :-)
